The story of Chicha and Pack of Kids

One day, when I was 6 years old, my parents and I talked about adopting a dog. We decided to find a shelter that had puppies for adoption, and we applied.

My parents found a shelter called Badass Animal Rescue that had just welcomed a litter of 8 puppies. Their mom had been found on the streets of Atlanta.

On May 23, 2021, we received an email inviting us to meet the puppies. We were all so excited to maybe finally get a dog!

When we arrived at the rescue, we were really excited to go in, but we had to wait outside for 20 minutes!

When we finally went in to see the puppies, and once my parents and I sat down on the floor, there was a puppy who jumped on my dad two times. We were like, “We are sooo getting this dog!”.

Then the Rescue told us to wait outside again for a bit while we filled out some forms.

After waiting a little longer, they came out and gave us the puppy we wanted to adopt! My mom started crying because she was so happy!

I named our dog Chicha. Chicha is a Peruvian purple drink made with purple corn, cinnamon, lime, and sugar, which I love.

And that’s how this story ends, but it kind of continues…
